Pro Tip Your Guide to Titleist Golf

Does your mind immediately go to Titleist Pro V1 golf balls when you think of Titleist Golf? There’s a reason Titleist golf balls are the most used on the PGA Tour and LPGA Tour. They’re typically an amateur’s go-to golf ball as well.

Let’s dive into the history of Titleist Golf, starting with their renowned golf balls.

Unsurprisingly, Titleist Golf began as a golf ball company in the 1930s when Phil Young noticed the inconsistency of the golf ball he was using. His golf partner that day happened to work in the local hospital, so they x-rayed the golf ball and found its core to be off-center. So began the x-ray quality test Titleist is still famous for today.

Since the beginning, Young set out to create the best ball in golf. How Young and his team launched their revolutionary Titleist golf balls only secured that position. By having only certified golf professionals and pro shops sell their golf balls, as opposed to regular stores, Titleist golf balls carried clout with all golfers because they came from someone they could trust.

Young took this trust to the next level in 1945 and soon had tons of golfers on the PGA Tour playing with Titleist golf balls. Even now, you’re probably picturing the Titleist logo next to names on top of the leaderboard, signifying the best golfers in the world are playing with Titleist golf balls.

However, just because many of the top professional golfers play Titleist doesn’t mean their golf balls are only for the pros -- Titleist collects data from pros and amateurs alike in order to design the best Titleist golf ball for every skill level. The Titleist Pro V1 golf ball and Titleist Pro V1x golf ball you see everywhere nowadays? Those have been around since 2000, and they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.

Titleist has since expanded their product offerings. A need to produce the best golf balls in the game has allowed Titleist to bring their high quality and meticulous consistency to other golf equipment. In addition to Titleist golf clubs, Titleist golf bags and other accessories, they partnered with Scotty Cameron in 1994 to bring the world some of the most popular and high performing putters to date.

Known on Tour for their driving irons, Titleist golf clubs are another premium offering. Professionals and amateurs alike can enjoy the advanced technologies of Titleist Golf drivers and Titleist Golf irons.

Titleist Golf drivers appeal to all golfers. You can choose a larger clubhead (with a larger sweet spot) for more forgiveness or really drill into your driver settings for the most precision off the tee. Either way, Titleist technology will have your ball going farther and straighter.

Tons of innovation have also gone into the Titleist irons. Like with their golf balls, Titleist actually works with professional golfers each week to learn what they need to succeed on the course; then, they build it. Titleist Golf irons are known for their forgiveness but are deadly accurate -- just ask Justin Thomas.

Following the same line of questioning, Bob Vokey burst on the scene and produced some of the finest golf wedges ever made. Titleist Golf wedges, like their golf balls, have been adored since the Vokey wedges were first introduced in 2004. With all the different groove patterns and finishes, these Vokey designs are a popular choice on Tour.

Of course, Titleist’s Scotty Cameron putters round out this top brand’s lineup. While some golfers collect Scotty Cameron putters, others put them into play and have found great success. Their sleek designs align perfectly with the Titleist brand.
