  • Best Deals on 2019 Drivers: Cobra, TaylorMade & Titleist

    Updated: Jul 20, 2020
    Best Clubs Of 2019?

With the PGA Show in the rearview mirror, your excitement for 2020 golf clubs is probably through the roof, but we’re here to tell you about some of the best deals on last year’s drivers you can find NOW. Every year more than 1,000 exhibitors descend on Orlando to premiere new and improved golf clubs, golf clothes, golf balls, technology and more.

Playing the latest and greatest golf club technology is what everyone wants, but not everyone can spend $500 on a golf club when you can get one with basically the same technology for up to 30% less. We’re here to offer you some smart buying options if you want golf drivers with technology that’s still “new” but not necessarily on the bleeding-edge. The following golf clubs still pack much of the same technology found in this year’s models but with the added benefit of being lighter on your wallet.

Now is the time to snatch up those 2019 golf club deals because, just like the previous model year of your favorite car, they are significantly cheaper than their newer siblings.

    Cobra King F9 SpeedBack Driver

    Cobra F9 SpeedBack driver

At the end of 2018, Cobra introduced the F9 SpeedBack driver to the market for the 2019 golf season. Its primary goal was to create a driver that was aerodynamic with a true center of gravity (CG) that was low (near the sole of the club) and back (away from the clubface).

Cobra’s solution for these parameters was to aggressively reshape the driver with a crown that’s 12% larger than the previous Cobra F8 driver. This crown includes “PWR Ridges” to enhance stability and aid alignment.

Additionally, the raised rear edges of the Cobra F9 SpeedBack driver give the driver a slightly boxier look at address. While the rear of the golf club is flat enough to balance some pocket change, this raised back actually reduces aerodynamic drag – hence the name “SpeedBack”.

The Cobra F9 SpeedBack driver also features increased mass as far back on the sole as reasonably possible, creating what was the most aerodynamic driver clubhead on the market. By using titanium and tungsten, Cobra Golf moved the CG low and deep, creating a more efficient transfer of energy to the ball for optimized launch and spin, while maintaining an aerodynamic shape. Another unique feature of the Cobra F9 driver is the CNC-milled face, which allows for tighter tolerances of face thickness in order to maximize ball speed. CNC milling is an industry-leading technology that took Cobra Golf two and a half years to perfect.

To get really technical, the Cobra F9 driver face was created with three different horizontal bulge curvatures that are CNC-milled into the face to control loft and face angle on the heel, toe and center areas. This is combined with E9 Technology. E9 is Cobra Golf’s variable face thickness structure that expands the sweet spot across a typical miss-hit pattern ranging from the low heel to high toe areas.

Many of these features remain in Cobra’s 2020 SPEEDZONE golf driver, but if you purchase a Cobra F9 driver today, you can save $100 and receive our 30-Day Playability Guarantee so you can buy with confidence.

    TaylorMade M5 and M6 Drivers

    TaylorMade M5 and M6 Drivers

Last year, TaylorMade built on the success of their revolutionary Twist Face technology in the M3 and M4 drivers; TaylorMade reengineered the driver face with a curvature designed to deliver a corrective face angle on off-center impacts, producing straight distance off the tee.

In the TaylorMade M5 and M6 drivers, TaylorMade kept the same face technology but built them to exceed the CT limit (only temporarily though). CT is known as “characteristic time” and measures the spring-like effect off a golf driver face. TaylorMade then dialed the drivers back as close to the CT tolerance as possible by injecting a resin near the toe and heel of the driver through two ports that are then covered with eye-catching red screws.

What does this all mean? The TaylorMade M5 and M6 driver faces are hotter than ever. The TaylorMade drivers also included Hammerhead technology in the golf clubs to create massive sweet spots that enhance ball speed and forgiveness across the entire face of both golf clubs.

The TaylorMade M5 driver is the hyper-adjustable version of the clubhead. It comes in both an oversize (460cc) and Tour (435cc) size. Two 10g moveable weights along the inverse T-Track can be positioned to promote draws and fades and alter launch conditions to higher or lower.

Believe it or not, there are 1,700 distinct positions for the weights. We don’t recommend trying to find all of them! However, placing weights at the extreme left or right of the golf club head can provide 25-yards of left-to-right ball flight adjustment. The 2° loft sleeve allows for further tuning.

As for the TaylorMade M6 driver, at address it appears identical to the M5 driver. However, TaylorMade moved a lot of weight as far back as and as low as possible, like the Cobra F9 SpeedBack driver. For this reason, the TaylorMade M6 launches higher than its M5 sibling. While the TaylorMade M6 driver retains the adjustable hosel, there are no moveable weights to fine tune launch conditions.

Both drivers can now be had brand new for $150 less than their original prices.

    Titleist TS Drivers

    Titleist TS Drivers

Way back in 2018, Titleist introduced their new flagship driver family – the TS drivers, with TS standing for Titleist Speed. The first two heads that came to market were the Titleist TS2 and TS3. All Titleist TS drivers were redesigned from the ground up, as Titleist had the perception of lagging behind Callaway and TaylorMade in terms of technology and distance.

Now, Titleist TS drivers offer four distinct designs that bring more speed to every golfer’s game. The Titleist TS1 offers maximum launch and distance for moderate swing speeds, TS2 provides maximum forgiveness across the face, TS3 offers speed-tuned performance and the new TS4 aggressively reduces spin.

The Titleist TS2 driver is engineered to keep your shots long and straight, with the stability to allow you to play aggressively. It features the new Speed Chassis structure and a new streamlined shape that reduces drag by 20%, thereby increasing speed and distance. The refined crown and face thickness create the lowest Center-of-Gravity Titleist has to offer for greater launch and lower spin. This lighter and longer driver delivers a faster and more powerful swing.

The Titleist TS3 driver is customized for incredible distance, sporting the Speed Chassis head design. The streamlined shape, refined crown and face thickness combine to increase speed and distance, creating a lower CG for a higher launch and lower spin. The thinnest titanium crown in the game allows all the weight to be shifted lower and deeper, giving your swing a more concentrated contact point.

Another addition to the family was the Titleist TS1 driver. It targets those golfers with slower and more moderate swing speeds. The Titleist TS1 provides those golfers with more clubhead speed via a lightweight head. With an increased launch and spin, players will be able to swing more efficiently and effortlessly to achieve more distance.

Finally, for the first time ever, Titleist has four drivers in their lineup. The newest is the Titleist TS4, which is designed for the high-spin players looking to reduce spin across the face. This face is fitted with a low forward CG for significant spin reduction to produce a longer, more piercing ball flight. It also features a slightly smaller clubhead size at 430cc, compared to 460cc.

The entire line of Titleist TS Series drivers can now be had $100 less than their original asking prices.
