Practice Social Distancing on the Golf Course with Pushcarts

    Updated: Aug 06, 2020
    On the Range Blog

In our new reality of social distancing, getting out on the golf course would seem to be one of the best alternatives to being self-quarantined in the house. With pushcarts, not only can you remain six feet away from others while still socializing, but you can also reconnect with your golf game in a different light.

Using pushcarts allows you to enjoy the golf course on your own, stay social if you wish and take some pressure off your back and shoulders. Just remember to not shake your playing partners’ hands after the round.

GlobalGolf has a large selection of pushcarts to choose from - below are a few we believe to be the best of the bunch.

    Your social distancing awaits!

    Bag Boy Nitron

    Bag Boy Nitron Push cart

Bag Boy has been making pushcarts for a long time; they certainly know what a walking golfer wants and needs. The three-wheel Nitron pushcart features what Bag Boy calls “Nitro Piston” technology, a nitrogen-powered mechanism that allows you to open and fold the cart in a matter of seconds.

The cart also features Top-Lok technology, which keeps your golf bag from twisting around on the pushcart while you walk. Additional features include a handle mounted parking brake and bungee straps to secure the golf bag and ensure it stays in place.

Other amenities include an umbrella holder, an extra-large accessory bag and a luxurious scorecard console with golf ball storage, an integrated beverage holder and a smartphone holder.

You can also add more features to your pushcart with Bag Boy’s wide variety of accessories. One of our favorites is the personal seat for those times you wish there was a bench on that par 3 with two foursomes waiting to tee off.

    Clicgear Model 8.0+

    Clicgear Model 8.0+ Push cart

The Model 8.0+ is a four-wheel pushcart designed for larger cart bags and is the most advanced cart available in the Clicgear lineup. Think of the 8.0+ as the luxury version of the 3.5+ and new 4.0 models.

Its long list of features include an easy-to-use handbrake, cup holders, handle lock, umbrella holder, maintenance free airless tires and dual front brakes. The bag sits a little higher off the ground and, with four wheels, is that much more sturdy than its three-wheel cousins.

So, what’s better - three wheels or four wheels? It really comes down to personal preference and how much storage space you have in your trunk and/or house. The three-wheelers generally fold down to a slightly smaller size whereas the four-wheelers offer a bit more stability out on the course (which is particularly important if you typically play hillier courses).

Either way, you can’t go wrong with a Clicgear. They also make a wide range of accessories (for purchase) that “click” onto basically their entire model range. We suggest the GPS/phone holder to keep your distances locked in and the music playing if social distancing gets too lonely out there.

    Sun Mountain Pathfinder 3

Sun Mountain Pathfinder 3 Push cart

Sun Mountain’s Pathfinder 3 (three for three wheels) comes in a wide array of colors, easily folds down in two simple steps and has a small folded footprint that fits easily in your car. The Pathfinder also comes with a convenient accessory console that is designed to hold your cell phone, score card, extra balls and tees.

The Pathfinder has a nice selection of extra accessories (separate purchase required): cart mitts for when it’s cold but you still want to walk, an adjustable umbrella holder, various sized cup holders, and a cigar/pen holder to ensure your stogie never has to touch the ground.

    Social Distancing

There you have it, three great reasons to get out of the house and play nine holes. As long as you stay six feet away from your playing partner(s), you can get some much-needed exercise and improve your golf game amidst the Covid-19 crisis.

After all, Greg Norman says it best: “Happiness is a long walk with a putter” (and maybe the rest of your golf bag, too).
