TaylorMade Hybrid & Rescue Clubs Overview

TaylorMade may not have pioneered the hybrid club, aka the “rescue club,” as it did the metal wood. But the company deserves credit for popularizing this key piece of game-improvement equipment.

TaylorMade launched its very first rescue club in 1999 and within a few years, golfers everywhere were replacing their long irons with hybrids. In fact, the company still uses the term “rescue” more than two decades later – and remains among the biggest sellers of these versatile sticks.

Anyone searching for a set of hybrid golf clubs would be wise to check out TaylorMade’s lineup. GlobalGolf stocks a solid selection of new and used TaylorMade hybrids and rescues, for both men and women, including those listed here:

TaylorMade SIM Hybrid (2020)

The brand’s first rescue club to feature “V Steel” – a V-shaped sole plate that cuts down on club-to-turf friction – the SIM and SIM MAX hybrids met instant success upon release. They’ve also got TaylorMade’s proprietary Twist Face technology for better results on miss-hits, plus construction and materials that increase ball speed.

The SIM UDI and DHY models are primarily driving irons, but are designed for fairway play as well. The UDI (Ultimate Driving Hybrid) is favored by low handicappers while the DHY’s higher launch appeals to a broader audience.

TaylorMade M-Series Hybrids

The TaylorMade M5 and M6 rescues (2019) – the hybrid versions of these top-selling lines – were the first to feature Twist Face tech. The M3 and M4 rescues (2018) earned widespread praise for their looks and playability, though the M3 is considered more of a “player’s club” while the M4 is easier to hit. TaylorMade’s M1 and M2 hybrids (2017) launched the M-Series and remain highly valued among preowned club buyers.

TaylorMade GAPR Hybrid (2018)

Created to fill the gap between your longest iron and your shortest fairway wood, TaylorMade GAPR models come in a range of head sizes and shapes to lure golfers of varying skill levels. The similarities between the GAPR LO, MID and HI versions include C300 steel clubfaces, Speed Foam in the body and adjustable hosels.
