    Titleist Vokey SM8 Wedges Overview

One Giant Shift Forward in Wedge Performance

Outstanding wedge play consists of three characteristics; spin, shot versatility, and distance control. With the SM8, Bob Vokey and his team have designed the ultimate wedge at the height of innovation in all three areas.

    Wedge Face

    Improved Distance & Trajectory Control

The SM8 line has reimagined the art of higher MOI through movement of the center of gravity forward. This idea was invented in the SM6, refined in the SM7, and has been perfected in the SM 8. This means even better feel and a natural tendency of the club to square at impact.

SM8 Grinds: The Heart and "Sole" Of Versatility

The grind of a wedge is the biggest factor in fitting a wedge to your unique golf swing. Using his years of crafting, developing, and improving Tour Proven sole grinds, Master Craftsman Bob Vokey has created grind options that will fit players of all needs and skill levels.

    Maximum Spin - Ultimate Control

Grooves and groove durability are the essence of creating spin for a successful wedge game. SM8 grooves are cut to the edge and each groove on every head is inspected for conformity. Finally, a localized heat treatment is applied to the impact area doubling the durability of the groove.

    Progressive Center of Gravity

The SM8 line is the most accurate and forgiving Vokey wedge made to date thanks to the reimagining of the progressive center of gravity. The CG has actually been moved in front of the face outside of the wedge head. This is done using tungsten weights as well as varied hosel lengths and results in increased MOI and exceptional feel. All of this has been accomplished without sacrificing the classic Vokey head shape that players love.

    Grooves on Wedge Face

    Spin Milled Grooves

A proprietary Spin Milling process allows SM8 grooves to be meticulously engineered maximizing spin and durability. The first step in this process is cutting the face with a high speed saw making it perfectly flat. Once this is done, each and every groove is individually cut based on the loft and finish. Low lofted wedges have narrow, deep grooves while high lofted wedges have wide, shallow grooves. The next step involves cutting micro-grooves in between the grooves to maximize spin on partial shots. To make the most durable groove in golf, the impact area is given a proprietary heat treatment . The process is finalized with a 100% inspection for conformity to the rules of golf on each groove on every wedge head.
