The TaylorMade M4 driver combines Twist Face technology with a new Hammerhead Slot and Geocoustic sole design for straight distance and a large sweet spot. Twist Face is engineered to reduce side spin and deliver straighter shots as well as provide more loft in the high-toe and less loft in the low-heel to produce more consistent spin where golfers commonly miss-hit. The Hammerhead Slot provides a larger sweet spot and increased ball speed low on the face and drops unwanted spin for more distance. Geocoustic technology reduces sole volume and enables a larger, more forgiving face.

Interested in the new M3 or M4 drivers but don't know which one would be best for just an average player. 24HDCP.??
asked by Mia H. on 2/9/2018
The M4 would most likely be the better choice as it is geared more for forgiveness and distance while the M3 is geared more toward being able to adjust ball flight by moving weights.

Solid Performance

Handicap: 11-15  Plays Golf: I play more than once a week  Dexterity: Right Hand

Moving to the M4 from M2. Noticeably better off center hits. Solid shots from the center of the club. Easier to draw the ball, very easy to hook. Wish the sound off the face was a little crisper. Face is great at capturing the imprint of the ball. Shaft, regular is well matched to head.

Was a little skeptical at first of the twist face and thinking may be it was a marketing grab but I will say this is the best driver I have ever played. Took me a round or two to really get used to but the control and distance are fantastic. Excellent sound off the face and you can work the ball well. It’s pricy but 100% worth the money. LOVE this driver

The U-Try program is amazing. It's like having Netflix back when we got DVDs in the mail. 2 weeks is plenty of time to decide if the club is right for you. I play 2-4 rounds a week with a mid 80s average. I plan on taking full advantage of this program.

Technology / Specs

Here are the 3 main features of the TaylorMade M4 driver.

Twist Face

Twist Face is a revolutionary technology aimed at accuracy. After analyzing 500,000+ shots, TaylorMade engineers found the most common misses when hittinga driver were high-toe and low-heel. To fix this, the engineers literally twisted the club face.

The high-toe section is opened 0.5 degrees and adds 1 degree of loft to help correct a low, duck-hook shot that results from impact in that area. Conversely, the low-heel sectionn is closed 0.5 degrees and delofted 1 degree to correct that mishit.

Hammerhead Technology

Hammerhead technology creates more ball speed and a larger sweet spot. The wide channel on the sole flexes at impact, producing more ball speed across a larger portion of the club face.

The 2 (nearly) perpendicualr bars inside the channel create stability, allowing designers to make the club face thinner overall. This thin club face also helps produce more ball speed across the clubface.

Together, these features of Hammerhead technology make the sweet spot bigger!

Geocoustic Technology

Geocoustic technology is also on the sole of the club. It helps give the M4 a solid sound and feel as well as more forgiveness.

Differing from previous versions, this Geocoustic area has more material taken out. The weight saved is repositioned around the rest of the clubhead for more forgiveness. According to TaylorMade, the sweet spot is 67% larger thanks to the new design.
