The Taylormade SLDR iron features an improved Speed Pocket design with ThruSlot Technology which promotes fast speed and high launch across the face of the club. This improved cut through Speed Pocket technology is coupled with an ultra-thin face (1.5mm) and new deep under-cut design promoting consistently higher ball speeds and optimal trajectory in every shot. Each SLDR iron is individually engineered to maximize distance and to tighten the gap between your long irons and metal woods. In addition to the improved Speed Pocket in the mid and long irons, the redesigned cavity and badging provides remarkable feel in the short irons and the tour inspired wedges design have the ATV sole configuration. The combination of distance, performance and forgiveness is what you can expect from the game changing SLDR irons.

The best TaylorMade iron of 2014

With the exception of the MB set of irons, I demoed both the CB and MC models of the tour preferred line for 2014. Both models are nice and worth considering. All of that said, I believe the best of the TaylorMade irons within this range of clubs are SLDRs. IMO, better feeling, more accurate, and longer than the other two models. A real sleeper.

Great looking, forgiving, well made iron set.

Got a great deal on these in "Open Box" condition so I decided to upgrade from my RBZ Irons - took them to the range prior to my first round and BAM - dead straight and long. I highly recommend this iron set.

Awesome Clubs

Global Golf is awesome as always. Shipping is quick. Condition of clubs definitely met my expections.
As for the SLDR irons, I have to admit it was an impulse buy. I have always gamed regular flex but wanted to try something with a smaller head and was drawn in by the SLDR'S classic looks and ordered it even though it was stiff flex. To my surprise, I actually hit the SLDR better than my previous set (regular flex RSi 1) even though my swing speed is slow (7-iron goes about 140 yards). I have not lost any distance even though the loft of the SLDR is weaker than the RSi 1, and my consistency and dispersion have improved dramatically. Maybe 'stiff flex is for faster swing speed players' is a myth?
I also liked that the SLDR gives me more feedback. I have a feeling the face slots on the RSi 1, while they do increase forgiveness, subdue the feedback.
All in all, I love the SLDR irons and am glad my impulse buy worked out.

Tried many iron sets:BBs, r7, burners, rbz, amp, amp cell, bio cell. Like these best of all. Just as long as any of the above, but much more accurate for my swing. Tend to draw the ball & I think less offset in these clubs helps me hit straighter shots. Have the stiff flex 3-pw set and am even hitting the 3 iron pretty good, about 190yds, if I don't overswing.

The SLDR Iron: A New Level of Technology and Performance

The SLDR iron is an iron for all players who are seeking the best of both worlds: advanced technology and top-level performance. The iron has a modern and traditional shape, with a slim-looking topline and a thin sole making for a visually appealing golf club. It’s packed with TaylorMade’s cutting-edge performance enhancing-technologies: ThruSlot Technology, a deep undercutting Speed Pocket, and an Ultra-Thin face. All of these work together to enhance the launch angle, forgiveness, and distance of shots, achieving ultimate playability in an iron.

TaylorMade is implementing a new and improved Speed Pocket with ThruSlot Technology to promote lightning-fast ball speeds with towering trajectory across the entire face of the iron delivering extreme forgiveness. The Ultra-Thin face flexes on contact with the golf ball for a trampoline effect, achieving the USGA limit on ball speeds. The SLDR irons also feature a complex vibration-dampening system that delivers the sound and feel that Tour professionals demand.

The SLDR iron has consistent loft gapping for precision and ultimate distance control throughout the entire set. The iron sets will be manufactured with the KBS Tour C-Taper 90 shaft. This shaft produces a high trajectory with spin-stopping control you can trust when attacking those tucked pin locations. This shaft adds a piece to the all-consuming quest for more distance.
