The TaylorMade Tour Preferred CB irons feature Speed Pocket™ technology in the 3-7 iron which creates more consistent ball speeds and launch conditions across the entire face. This improved cut through Speed Pocket technology coupled with progressively less off-set as you get into the short-irons gives you an ideal iron for the player who wants maximum performance technology in a compact and elegant head design. The clubs all have hand-polished satin nickel-chrome finish and precisely shaped sole with slightly more effective bounce giving the advanced player the ultimate combination of speed, stability and playability.

Condition Description

Clubs in Value Condition have been played frequently. All clubs in Value Condition are in 100% playable condition, as all of the markings will be purely cosmetic blemishes, and in no way will affect performance. This is the perfect option for the player looking for more bang for the buck. Among the wear that you may see on clubs in Value Condition: NOTE: Some irons are designed to rust over time. This is not considered adverse wear. Moderate face and sole wear; minor groove wear and/or chrome wear; rock dings on the leading edge and/or sole; light rusting; shaft wear. The ferrules may or may not be seated to the hosel on each iron in the set. The ferrule is purely cosmetic, and will not affect the playability of the club.

This product may be an ARP or DEMO club.

  • Precision-engineered cavity design Speed Pocket™ technology in the long irons (3-7) increases ball speed low on the face to deliver more consistent ball speed and launch conditions across the entire face.
  • Compact short-irons with minimal offset for improved spin and control where players require it most and slightly larger mid to long irons with progressively more offset to improve playability.
  • Stronger lofts due to higher launch angle generated by the Speed Pocket for an optimal combination of distance and controlled trajectory.
  • Each iron has a hand-polished satin nickel-chrome finish preferred by better players.

What is the difference between the Tour Preferred MC and the Tour Preferred CB models?
asked by Tom Y. on 3/8/2016
The Tour Preferred MC combines a player’s shape with a shallow muscle cavity design for better players. Compared to the CB version or full-fledged "cavity back" version, they are smaller in blade length, size of head, and have less offset in the head than the CB. The CB will be more forgiving and give you the look of a players iron but with added forgiveness of a cavity back design.

Usual story...Gucci tastes...Walmart wallet. Got these used from Global in Mint condition...arrived Mint Plus. I appreciate Global Golf's attention to customers such as myself and have always found them to be top notch.

Best TM irons in this year's line

This is the best set of TaylorMade irons in this year's line. My handicap suggests the SpeedBlade or SLDR should be a more appropriate fit, but I found the TP CBs more accurate and with enough forgiveness that they are a lot more playable from the first cut or the rough, where my drives often land. Love the looks as well.

First thing is they are nice looking irons at address. These irons are great because off center hits still produce quality shots. When hit in sweet spot the ball really travels. Gained 5-10 yards with these clubs. Great irons if you are looking for something not forged.

Great irons

I'm a 6 hcp.

Great irons. I'm coming from a set of SLDR irons, which are also great, but as just about every review on them says, they hit the ball soooo high and with good spin. Here in Texas with the wind that can be a big problem. I was looking for something with a little more of a player's profile that I wouldn't lose half or more a club of distance. I tried Mizunos, Titleist AP2s, TM RSI 2 and RSI TP. I settled on these because they're not forged and hit the ball lower with similar spin characteristics. Forging I've noticed improves feel, but sacrifices distance in most cases.

The RSI1 and 2 series feel good too, but the spin model on those is considerably less which is how they get them to go so much further. I like my short irons to hit the green and check and you won't get that with the RSI1 and 2. My RSI2 7-iron spin was about 5400 RPM at about 158yd carry.

RSI TP were nice too, but I lost about half a club with those, but they have awesome spin. I was spinning a 7-iron about 6800 rpm at about 150 yard carry.

I played a set of 714 AP2s for a while. Awesome spin, but lost about 3/4 club distance on them. Struggled to carry a 7 more than 150 yards. They remind me of a slightly more forgiving blade.

Ultimately these CBs feel great, didn't lose any distance, great lower trajectory close to a blade, and still maintain that spin model. I carry a CB 7-iron about 155 @ 6400RPM which is about the same as my SLDR irons.

Nice crisp sound and feel when I hit a nice shot. I've always had a tough time shaping shots. These clubs have helped a ton.
