The Nike VR-S Covert 2.0 hybrid features a stainless steel head with a high-speed cavity back design featuring new Fly-Brace technology to produce longer, straighter ball flight. The heads have a proportionally descending head size from the #2 through the #5 for more forgiveness on the longer hybrids, and more precision shotmaking. Its new NexCOR face technology provides the hottest face of any Nike hybrid to date.

Dexterity: Right Hand

Couldn't say enough good things about this club if I tried. Have had it for about a year and it's easily my favorite club in my bag. Very easy to hit, grip is phenomenal, stiff shaft is perfect, and its a very appealing club to look at. Great service as always from Global Golf as well.

Unlike the VR-S Covert this club has performed as advertised. It launches the ball high and the feel is outstanding.

Technology / Specs

Nike VRS Covert 2.0 Hybrid

The 2014 Nike VRS Covert 2.0 hybrid offers golfers enhanced playability and distance thanks to Nike's golf research and design engineers. They have come back with a different club head shape as well as design elements that make this the ultimate distance flying machine. Let's take a look at what makes the Nike VRS Covert 2.0 hybrid the best hybrid that Nike has made to date.

The VRS Covert 2.0 hybrid features a unique fly-brace technology. This ties the sole to the crown of the golf club. When a golf ball is struck, the rear portion of the golf club stiffens up, which creates more stability in the golf club. The stiffened rear portion of the club then transfers energy back to the face. The fly-brace technology increases the amount of total energy restored to the face, with the high-speed cavity back design aiding the process. Both of these features are design elements that create longer and straighter golf shots by transferring more energy to the ball.

The NexCOR face technology has been reengineered by Nike to create a larger sweet spot. The enhanced face has also yielded a higher moment of inertia (MOI) over previous hybrids. The new NexCOR face produces faster ball speeds that lead to the hottest performance hybrid Nike has ever created.

Nike engineers have developed a hybrid clubhead design that transitions flawlessly from larger club heads in the 2- and 3-hybrids to smaller club heads in the 4- and 5-hybrids. The larger club heads are designed to produce maximum forgiveness and distance, while the smaller club heads are designed for precision shot making. The Nike VRS Covert 2.0 hybrid is available in a 2- through 5- models. The lofts are 17°, 20°, 23° and 26° respectively.

The hybrid features a Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Black HBP graphite shaft. The shaft weighs 70 grams which helps moderate swing speeds achieve faster ball speeds for increased distance. The new shaft features a mid-launch trajectory to achieve optimum launch conditions and maximum distance. The shaft is available in multiple flexes.

This year Nike has made a performance hybrid that will enhance all skill levels. The fly-brace technology showcases state-of-the-art technology that produces superior energy transfer throughout the clubhead for extreme distance. The hybrids' linear transition through clubhead size and reengineered NexCOR face achieve maximum forgiveness and playability resulting in longer golf shots.
