Technology / Specs
Nike's golf research and design engineers have enhanced the playability and distance of the 2014 VRS Covert 2.0 Tour hybrid. They have come back with a different club head shape and design elements that make this the ultimate distance flying machine. Let's take a look at what makes the Nike VRS Covert 2.0 Tour hybrid the best hybrid that Nike's made yet.
The VRS Covert 2.0 Tour hybrid features a unique fly-brace technology. This ties the sole to the crown of the clubhead. With this technology, when a golf ball is struck, the rear portion of the golf club stiffens up, which creates more stability in the golf club. The stiffened rear portion of the club then transfers energy back to the face. The fly-brace technology increases the amount of total energy restored to the face, with the high-speed cavity back design aiding the process. Both of these features are design elements that create longer and straighter golf shots.
The NexCOR face technology has been reengineered by Nike to create a larger sweet spot. The enhanced face has also yielded a higher moment of inertia (MOI) over previous hybrids. The new NexCOR face produces faster ball speeds that lead to the hottest tour hybrid Nike has ever created.
The Flexloft adjustability is returning to the 2014 Nike product line. The Flexloft lets the golfer customize the hybrid to their specific needs. It allows you to adjust your loft (in 1° increments) and face angle separately from each other. The 3 hybrid can be adjusted between 17° and 21° degrees, while the 5 hybrid can be adjusted between 21° and 25° degrees. The face angle can also be set to three different positions: left, neutral or right. The hybrid comes with a wrench that makes all of the changes simple and easy. The ability to adjust the two will create the optimal launch needed for maximum distance and accuracy.
The Nike VRS Covert 2.0 hybrid features a Mitsubishi Rayon Kuro Kage Silver graphite shaft. The shaft weighs 80 grams which lends itself to faster swing speeds for increased distance. The new shaft has a titanium nickel fiber shaft tip for additional reinforcement. The reinforced shaft tip adds stability and reduces spin for a piercing ball flight that produces maximum distance.
This year Nike has made a tour hybrid that will enhance all skill levels. The fly-brace technology showcases state-of-the-art technology that produces superior energy transfer throughout the clubhead for extreme distance. The Flexloft adjustability allows the golfer to take command and custom fit the hybrid to their specific needs. The hybrid's club head size and reengineered NexCOR face achieve maximum playability and forgiveness resulting in longer golf shots.
