  • Pro Tip: Grow Your Kid’s Golf Game After the Pandemic

    Updated: Nov 10, 2020
Pro Tip Get Your Kids Ready for Golf

Congratulations, you got your kids excited about golf! Now what?

Since golf courses have generally stayed open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and states may soon be reopening all businesses, it’s time to think ahead.

Below, you will find a list of popular options for teaching your child the ins and outs of golf. They’re affordable, too! It’s important to nurture your kid’s love of the game; he or she will learn so many life lessons while developing values on and off the course.

Bonus Pro Tip: Prepare your kids for their next step by finding the right junior golf club set for them.

    1. First Tee

The First Tee is one of the most popular junior golf programs in the U.S. and offers classes for children ages 2-18. Some programs also host special needs classes. Research your local chapter to see which classes are available in your area.

This program helps kids associate fun and golf while developing important motor skills. You will see kids of all ages learning how to stretch properly, run obstacle courses with new friends, work on all aspects of their golf game and even play on a course (where available). All of the physical learning ties into their nine core values, like responsibility, sportsmanship and honesty.

    2. Youth on Course

Youth on Course came up with a brilliant way to get kids ages 6-18 onto the golf course. With over 1,300 courses to choose from, kids can play for $5 or less - all they have to do is become members.

The program goes a step further and offers caddie programs, high school internships and even college scholarships. Youth on Course understands golf can provide many opportunities for children’s futures, and they want to give kids the chance to explore those options.

Youth on Course and the First Tee have partnered to open the world of golf to your kids. If you have joined the First Tee, you most likely have a membership with Youth on Course already. With access to certified coaches and golf courses, not to mention internships and scholarships, your child will be supported no matter how far he or she will take the sport.

    3. Local Golf Professional

If you are looking for more one-on-one coaching for your child, you can always look up local golf pros. Most of these golf professionals have been certified through the PGA and/or LPGA programs, which means they have a full array of tools to bring your kid’s game to the next level while keeping golf fun.

Some golf courses also host junior camps in the summer. Here is where your child can find a new favorite golf coach and more friends to play with on the course.

If these steps sound like something your kid will enjoy after the pandemic, go ahead and check out these useful tips for introducing your kid to golf now. Your child can be loving the game and competing in tournaments in no time!
