Cobra golf has created a tour inspired wedge for 2014 called the Tour Trusty. The wedge features state of the art technology using a process called Proprietary Variable Feed Rate to maximize the amount of spin. The Tour Trusty also showcases the new K-Grind sole to achieve maximum playability from every shot. The Tour Trusty wedge from Cobra Golf has everything you look for in the performance of an outstanding wedge; precision, versatility, and feel.
A big focus for the research and design team was trying to enhance the precision of shot making and spin produced on partial shots. Cobra was successful in doubling the amount of surface roughness on the club’s face by a proprietary process called Proprietary Variable Feed Rate. This process creates the optimum surface roughness on the face of the wedge for maximum spin on all shots.
The faces of the wedge are CNC Milled, with the addition of individually created grooves. To ensure a high-quality wedge, Cobra changes out the blades that are used to cut the grooves every eight to ten wedges. The grooves are then inspected for individual shape and consistency throughout.
The wedge features grooves with a fifteen percent volume increase by producing larger and wider milled grooves than the 2010 Trusty Rusty. Larger and wider grooves are produced through steeper walls and deeper grooves on the new tour trusty. The enhanced grooves will increase the spin and trajectory control of golf shots for overall superior performance. The grooves will also impart maximum spin on shots involving debris and moisture due to the deeper channels of the grooves.
The Tour Trusty wedge also features a tour notch K-Grind sole. The K-Grind sole provides both heel and toe relief for long, medium, and short shots. It provides superior relief to ensure precise contact is made even during the toughest of flop shots, where you need to open the face. The addition of this sole helped create the ultimate scoring club.
The Tour Trusty is available in two finishes, neither of which will rust, tour matte satin or a black PVD finish. Both finishes will reduce the amount of glare that reflects off the club head. The wedge has a tour inspired, classic, and sleek appearance that appeals to a wide range of players. The hosel flows seamlessly into a clubhead that features minimal offset that creates a clean look in the address position.
The Tour Trusty will be available in right and left hand, with even degrees ranging from 48 – 64. The 54-degree wedge is available in ten degrees of bounce, the 56-degree wedge is available in eight and twelve degrees of bounce and the 60-degree wedge is available in ten degrees of bounce. All other wedges will have eight degrees of bounce. The Tour Trusty will come with the True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and an upgraded grip, Golf Pride’s New Decade Multi-Compound Whiteout.
This wedge has the performance and playability that is tour-tested. The re-design of the Cobra wedge will give your short game a complete overhaul. No matter what wedge shot you’re faced with on the golf course, this wedge makes pulling those shots off easy.
