Handicap: 16-20  Plays Golf: I play weekly  Dexterity: Right Hand

I've been playing exactly 1 year. Lessons and a lot of tee time. I'm hitting consistent mid 90s, but my iron game was fair at best. I was using a set of hand me downs.

Decided to buy a good set of my own. Researched the AP1 and decided they were the right clubs. Got them with the graphite shafts.

They arrived and I took them right to the range. From the first ball to the last one in the basket I was blown away.

Every shot was a long towering hit. I'd love to say it was all me, but I've never hit irons this well. Miss hits traveled as well as my normal hits with the old irons and pure shots went well beyond what I'm normally capable of.

These irons are amazing.

Handicap: 0-5  Plays Golf: I play more than once a week  Dexterity: Right Hand

Strong lofts and amazing forgiveness have me wondering why I didn’t make the switch sooner. What these clubs may lack in feel is totally forgotten when you see the results. Want to play better? These clubs should do the trick.

Forgiving Distance Irons
By Lorenzo J. on 3/13/2019
6 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

I traded in my AP1 716 set for these and what I noticed the most is the improvement in forgiveness due to the increase of tungsten weights, it was easier to launch and there wasn’t a huge drop off on mishits. My only disappointment was that the 8 iron in the set wasn’t in very good condition, it had a deep scratch, it shouldn’t have passed inspection.

Technology / Specs

Titleist 718 AP1 irons are the most forgiving club in the AP line. The following features combine to give these clubs their performance.

Progressive Iron Construction

There are 2 types of club head construction of the 718 AP1 irons. The two longest irons have a hollow body, delivering higher launch and more forgiveness. The rest of the set has an undercut cavity, producing more controlled flight to help get shots closer to the hole. By making the clubs this way, users get the most carry distance out of each club.

Thin Face Insert

These AP1 irons have a new thin face insert that's unsupported. By not being supported, the face flexes more to give more ball speed and distance to all shots.

High MOI Design

An average of 58.5 grams of high-density tungsten weight is located near the toe of the club. The weight increases the MOI of the club, creating a tighter dispersion. It also lowers the CG so shots fly high and land quickly.

In addition to these features, the Titleist 718 AP1 irons have a pre-worn leading edge that improves turf interaction, generating more consistent contact.

See the chart below for the stock specs for the 718 AP1 irons.

Utry gives you the freedom to test drive the club on your course, at your pace, with the golf ball you play. Use it as much as you like so you can really know what the club will do for your game before you invest in it.

If you do love it, that's awesome! You keep the club, we'll subtract the $25 trial fee off the final cost of the club, and we'll charge you the difference.
