Handicap: 11-15 Plays Golf: I play monthly Dexterity: Left Hand
Went to these after playing forged blades for a decade, despite my mid-handicap skill set. Have always preferred feel and workability, so I was hesitant to switch back to cast irons (even if they are 'players clubs'), especially the set I acquired, which have x-stiff graphite shafts. Hit a couple hundred balls this afternoon, and after having initially struggled with them, finally began to figure out these sticks. Smooth draws are accessible from 4 iron through pitching wedge with good tempo. Get quick and hooks are likely. I find a 10 yard fade to be the most consistent shot for me. Overcooked shot results in a 15 yard fade with little loss of distance. Worst miss right with an open, cut/fade set up is the dreaded straight ball (I kid). Clubs are long, and much more forgiving than my old blades. Nice, penetrating mid-high trajectory (higher when hitting a cut). Ball seems to hang in the air forever, land softly and stop. Can't wait to take these to the course. Expecting my GIR numbers to improve immediately. Consistently 5-10 yards longer with every club in the set. Easy to get extra yards with extra swing speed. These irons don't match the feel of a forged club (what does?), but they certainly do provide plenty of positive feedback when you really compress the ball and squeeze it off the turf. Perfect clubs for the aspiring mid-handicapper (like me!).
