Description

The Mizuno MP-54 iron features clean and compact head shape with a deep Milled Pocket Cavity design (3-7iron) that is grain flow forged to deliver increased forgiveness in the long irons and a Solid Muscle design (8-PW) for enhanced control in the short irons. This iron set has the pure feel of one piece Grain Flow Forged 1025E mild carbon steel construction and is designed for the player who is accustom to the forgiving nature of a cavity back iron, but wants a little more from their shotmaking.

Condition Description

All clubs in Value Condition are in 100% playable condition, as all of the markings will be purely cosmetic blemishes, and in no way will affect performance. This is the perfect option for the player looking for more bang for the buck. Among the wear that you may see on clubs in Value Condition: NOTE: Some irons are designed to rust over time. This is not considered adverse wear. Moderate face and sole wear; minor groove wear and/or chrome wear; rock dings on the leading edge and/or sole; light rusting; shaft wear. The ferrules may or may not be seated to the hosel on each iron in the set. The ferrule is purely cosmetic, and will not affect the playability of the club.

Very Good but no better than the 53s

Handicap: 16-20  Plays Golf: I play monthly  Dexterity: Left Hand

The Mizuno MP 54s are very good - they are not the most forgiving irons in this category. But if you have the ball striking, they are very accurate and will hold the greens. The looks are an improvement over the MP 53s, as the PW flows with the set better (not as clunky as models past). The performance is not better than the 53s however, and I feel the distance is a bit shorter.

MP-54 4-PW--TT Dynalite Gold XP- R300

Handicap: 0-5  Plays Golf: I play more than once a week  Dexterity: Right Hand

My 7-months old MP-54 4-PW (plus 1/4") set has the True Temper Dynalite Gold XP R-300s (a fantastic, super feeling lightweight "Gold" shaft that has given way to the newer XP-95,105 & 115) that provide a nice high ball flight for me as super senior. My favorite upgrade for the MP-54 model is the slightly reduced loft & offset for the MP-54 PW versus my previous MP-52 PW. The MP-54s are very similar to my 52s, but do provide overall better iron shots/play and have a softer feel than the 52s.

I don't understand why Mizuno moved the MP-54s so early to special order, semi-retired status? Based on my frequent and repeated demos of all the other & newer Mizuno MP models, clearly wouldn't trade my MP-54s for any other MP model.
