The Classic 290 is Cleveland Golf's features the most advanced combination of style and performance in a titanium driver. It combines a pear-shaped profile with a large, deep club face with a unique sole design and color scheme inspired by persimmon drivers. The face promotes a hot, penetrating ball flight, while MaxCOR2 technology provides maximum distance on off-center hits. The Classic 290 is engineered with Ultralite technology, helping players generate increased head speed and distance with the same swing effort. Its RightWeight Fitting System gives it an overall weight of 290 grams. This makes it ideal for powerful players that demand Tour-caliber workability and precision.

This Honey is Money

Long and extremely accurate, which I love the most. After all these years, I hate missing fairways. I have 43R, 12 degree (but I never sky it). So easy to hit. This club head is BEAUTIFUL. I love that persimmon look in the sunshine. Best driver I have owned in 50 years of golfing. Classic wording on top is a plus and seeing top of faceplate at address really aids centering. This is a definite confidence enhancer that no other driver has. Extra deep face is so sweet and classic 460cc pear shape is so much better than all those overcooked 460cc humongous looking saucer heads. This 2012 version far exceeds its visually boring 2013 successor. Everything about this club is confidence building. Black shaft is a great technical match and a visual sleeper; the 2011 43R shaft in gold would have been sweet. Recommend Cleveland mix persimmon head and gold shaft in future edition. Hot List is wrong--the 3 head colors go great together. Stock lite grip is sorry and too thin. Add a Winn lite grip, but let a shop put it on: they are tricky to install and I ripped a midsize one.

It really grows on you

I received the Cleveland Classic 290, 9 degree driver, (Stiff Shaft) and took it to the range. At first I wasn't too happy, kept fading the ball. Played my first round, and couldn't keep it on the fairway. The next round, I finally started figuring it out, and started bombing low penetrating drives.

I would suggest that you "Tee" it just a bit lower than seems normal, and tilt the head just a bit inward. It's big face will do the rest. I had no problem getting it airborne, and was even able to start drawing and fading it.

I almost gave up, but the more I hit it, the more it gave me. The more you rip it, the better it feels. It seems like the harder you hit it, the more forgiving it gets.

Best Driver I've ever hit.

This driver gets and A++++++++ from me. Best driver I have ever hit. Sneaky long and the face is HUGE. Very forgiving and super light.

I love this driver! It looks, sounds, and performs great. The price on these now are a steal for what you get. So easy to hit. Great club all around.
