The TaylorMade R9 TP iron set has a classic, clean look from address with a traditional player's shape and profile. This set features a progressive construction and face thicknesses provide more ball speed in the long irons and better control in the scoring irons. The long irons, through the 5 iron have Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) and Velocity Control Chambers (VCC) which promotes more consistent, faster ball speeds across the face. This set offers a player a great iron that combines workability and forgiveness with a clean and traditional profile.

Interested in these R9 TP irons. Were they reshafted outside of Taylormade? The TT Dynamic Gold shaft was not standard for these clubs. Do they have the right ferrule? Tom
asked by Tom B. on 10/12/2016
Unfortunately we will not be able to determine if the shafts were installed by TaylorMade or someone else since they are a used set and sent to us as part of a trade-in. We also would not be able to determine if it has the right ferrule unfortunately. Please follow the link below for details on our condition ratings. https://www.globalgolf.com/about/club-rating/

Nice Cast Players Iron
By Jason K on 3/6/2011

These irons are very solid, and very well thought out. I prefer playing forged irons for the feel, and while these are no mizuno's, they feel nice on a well struck ball.
Are they going to add 15 yards to your game? Not likely. However, if you are playing a set of muscle backs as a 20 handicapper, you might find a few yards because these are easier to hit.
Are they workable? Some may disagree with me here, but anything is workable. If you know how to hit a fade or draw, you can easily accomplish that with these irons. I had a difficult time keeping the ball low, but that is my fault.
Who should buy these? Someone who A. Is a descent ball striker (they can feel harsh on thin mishits, or out on the toe). B. Someone who really likes looking down on a players club, but wants some love when things are not perfect. C. A good player, looking for a solid cast iron that will last a while (forged clubs wear more quickly).
My least favorite part of these clubs had to be the long irons. They are made with a very wide sole and you can see the back end sticking out when you are looking down. It's not a huge deal to everyone, most GI clubs are like this now days. However, I KNOW there are guys out there who would care, thus, I have spared them from being gravely disappointed.
All in all, they are a fantastic club. I have not hit the new TM clubs coming out in March 2011, but I have hit the Callaway Razr Forged, CB 2's, AP 2 710's, S56's, etc., and these rank up there with all of these great clubs.
Thanks for reading!

R9 Irons
By Blake on 3/15/2011
4 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

These irons are very helpful. i just recently made the switch from a beginner set of tommy armours to these r9's. I have seen a tremendous improvement on distance and it has a much bigger sweet spot on it and feels much better than any club i've ever hit. I reccomend buying these irons they will help your distance improve by a great amount, and it will allow you to hit the ball straighter, with more room for error on the club.

Handicap: 11-15  Plays Golf: I play monthly

Just received my order of these clubs and couldn't be more impressed with the visual quality of the irons. I purchased the value option and the only part I'm not blown away about is the grips that I was planning on changing anyways. I will definitely continue to use Global Golf in the future for my golfing needs.
