The TaylorMade Burner Steel fairway wood features SuperFast Club Technology to give an extremely light total weight. This promotes faster swing speed for added power. The large steel clubhead has the highest MOI of any fairway wood in golf (30% higher than the r7 steel) which gives tremendous forgiveness for long, straight results on off center hits. The steel pull-face construction creates a higher COR that enhances ball speed for increased distance. Its shallow clubface design positions the CG lower and farther for easier launches that both high and long.

A club you can depend on
By Sage McCleve on 2/15/2010
13 out of 14 people found this review helpful.

I've had this club for over a year now and it's become my club of choice. There are days when i put my driver away completely because i hit this 3 wood so long and straight. I hit the occational pop up off tee shots when i'm not careful and tee the ball up too high, but other than that this is a sweet club and it's really helped me improve on those long par 4s and par 5s.

Pros: Easy to hit, even on mis-hits. Wide face and big "sweet spot" help ensure good contact.

Cons: Small vertical face means that "sky balls" can happen regularly on tee shots if you aren't careful.

Burner 3 wood

Thanks to the lighter shaft I've added 15 yards to my 3 wood hits. East to hit with consistency.

Very Easy to Hit, Hot Impact.
By Hyun J on 3/4/2011
7 out of 7 people found this review helpful.

I owned this 3 wood for about a year. It was very easy to hit, and the feeling at impact was very good as Taylormade is known for perfecting the feeling of their metal woods. But as my swing became faster, it was shooting up balls way too high for me, which was okay, but its default offset was also too strong. (probably 1 or 2 degree closed.) which makes it impossible to slice, but it was a bit too much. I'd recommend this to any high-mid handicappers, but if your swing speed goes over 105mph, you should probably use the tour version which has a bit less loft and slightly open clubface.

These are your Utry selections. Only Utry eligible clubs appear here. 2 club limit.

Our Utry golf club demo program lets you try out a brand new golf club from the game's top brands for 14 days and only $25 a club or $100 an iron set. That's right—you get a brand new, still-in-the-plastic club to try for two weeks for just $25.

You get to try it when, where, and how you want for two weeks before deciding if you want to buy it or not.

Want to test out two different brands, or two different configurations? No problem. Utry lets you try out up to 2 clubs for $25 per club or 1 iron set for $100.

This isn't 30 minutes on the range with range balls, a pro looking over your shoulder, and an awkward conversation at the end about whether you want it or not.

Utry gives you the freedom to test drive the club on your course, at your pace, with the golf ball you play. Use it as much as you like so you can really know what the club will do for your game before you invest in it.

If you don't love it, simply put it back in the box it came in, use the included prepaid return shipping label, and send it back to us. That's it.

If you do love it, that's awesome! You keep the club, we'll subtract the $25 trial fee off the final cost of the club, and we'll charge you the difference.
