The best irons I have played with

I recently purchased these irons and received them yesterday, last night I went out and played 9 holes, originally a little nervous going out to play with new irons without any practice. Also my handicap is 15 and I was also unsure given my ability if these clubs were too much for me. I read about the small cavity and the feedback due to the forging process. The first iron shot was heavy and not a good judge, then I got on the second hole a narrow par 3 of 155 yards. I took the 8 iron being conservative, took my normal swing and was immediately blown away by several aspects of the club. Firstly, the feedback, I don’t know how Taylormade achieved it but you know immediately how you hit the ball. Secondly the ball flight was amazing to watch, slight draw, high and long, I landed softly on the first cut of the green a distance of 150 yards, an long 8 iron distance for me, when you hit the sweet spot with these clubs watch out and the feedback lets you know you hit it well, not to mention to CRACK you hear. I agree that the clubs are a little less forgiving than my old R7s but for me that is a good thing, with the R7 I can get a good hit of the heel or toe, with the MBs the shot off center is not as good, but you know immediately where you hit the ball how you hit it. I had one of my best games ever and first time out using these clubs.

Taylormade MB Iron Review

I bought a used set from globalgolf about 7 months ago. I play once a week and hit at the driving range 1-2 times per week. My handicap is a 12. The MB Irons will hit exactly where you hit it to. So, the one thing you will want (scratch that) NEED to do is hit at least 3 times a week, as is the case with any blade irons. You need to consistently hit. If you only play once a week, but have a 7-15 handicap you should stick with the MC irons. If you can hit 3 times a week then these are the clubs for you. If you've ever hit a 330 yard drive and know you hit it well and you hear the sublime crack of a well struck ball and you are in awe of a perfect shot...then you'll be rewarded often with the same feeling from your iron shots with these clubs. My friends always tell me to try their irons (and I do), but even a perfect shot with any other iron just does not compare. Not to mention regular cavity back clubs look absolutely bulky compared to the MB irons (MB Irons are probably 30% smaller and the profile is about 50-75% thinner). So, like switching to a white head driver it takes a little getting used to, but once you get into a rhythm you'll never go back. You can shape shots very easily. The one thing you'll want to do is change how your swing hits the ball. I actually now hit a 3/4 swing and hit down more onto the ball...it goes just as far. Which, is cool because these clubs have an extra 1 degree of loft (and I'm hitting 3/4 swing). My one regret was not getting a "mixed set". That being the MB Irons 6-PW and MC Irons 4-5. The 4-5 irons are harder to hit. Truth is from the fairway I hit my 5 iron only 3-5 yards less than my 4 iron (unless I hit it perfect). The 4 iron does go 10 yards further off the tee. - So, if you are a 10-15 handicap get a MC/MB set. Your iron game can become the strongest part of your game with these clubs - but, you have to commit to practicing with them 3x a week (or more) for 1-2 months. Once you commit to this your handicap will come down an easy 4-5. You'll be able to hit exactly the distance you want and the ball will stop cold on the green.
