The Callaway Steelhead was the first Callaway wood to feature the Hawkeye sole plate to help keep the club from digging into the ground and hitting the ball "fat". This club is one of the most popular and most forgiving steel-headed woods of all time. It is an incredible value and perfect for golfers of all skill levels.

Callaway Steelhead 4+ Fairway Wood: Stellar!
By Charles Parrott on 3/2/2011

Bought this club from GlobalGolf a month ago and have played 4 rounds with it so far and, I must say, it's by far the best FW I've ever swung! The club is 15 degrees in loft but, because of the 4+ wood designation, it's an inch shorter than the typical 3 wood. And because it's a Memphis 10 steel shaft, that means it's only 42" long. Talk about control! All it takes is a simple, smooth swing, and the ball rockets of the face. I have to attribute at least some of that to the mass of the head and steel shaft. I think the club manufacturers' rush to make lighter and lighter clubs that increase clubhead speed has resulted in farther shots that spray the course. Give me accuracy, knowing where my shot's going, over distance any day. I can feel this club throughout my swing and that gives me confidence. And the Hawkeye sole does exactly what it says: consistent contact with the turf without digging. The clubface is square to the shaft, making alignment easy. This club gets the ball up off the turf quickly and produces a nice high, but flat, trajectory.

Overall, a wonderful club that has quickly become the favorite in my bag!
